Growing the 'Queerifying the World' Dream🌿📚✨

When I first dreamed up Lavender Library Press, my vision was simple (and maybe a little ambitious): I wanted to publish a queer book series: Rainbow Soup for the Queer Soul. A collection of stories that would nourish, inspire, and reflect the lives of LGBTQ+ folks everywhere.

I did it. The series came to life. But soon, I realized something important: finding consistent submissions wasn’t easy. And if I kept waiting on manuscripts to trickle in, the whole mission of queerifying the world would get stuck on pause.

So, I pivoted.

From One Series to Many Stories

Instead of limiting myself to one series, I explored other ways to bring queer narratives into the world. That’s when 101 Queer Facts was born: a quick, accessible compilation designed to spotlight the LGBTQ+ stories and histories that too often get left out of mainstream narratives.

It wasn’t just a book. It was an entry point. A way to spark curiosity and shift perspectives, and to remind people that queer history is history, that our voices have always been here.

Realizing the Bigger Dream

But here’s the thing: while working on these projects, I began to see the bigger picture.

Lavender Library Press couldn’t just be about a handful of books. The dream was, and still is, much larger than that.

I realized that if I wanted to truly make an impact, it couldn’t sit quietly on the back burner or be rushed just to get something out to the world. Bills, jobs, and day-to-day life are real, but the vision of building a space for queer voices needed a large center stage.

So, one thing led to another… and now, Lavender Library Press has grown into something I never could have imagined at the start.

Where We Are Now

Today, Lavender Library Press is not just a press. It’s:

🌈 A Website: a digital home for queer storytelling and creativity, where we aim to queerify the world and normalize our existence.

🌈 A Marketplace: where you’ll find original queer designs, books and journals, and other community-centred creations.

🌈 A Community: a space where we all get to shine, share, and build a brighter narrative together. We are on Facebook, Instagram and Tik Tok! Who knows maybe one day Youtube!

What Comes Next

This is just the beginning. Publishing queer books is still at the heart of Lavender Library Press, but now the vision stretches further: to create a whole ecosystem of queer creativity. Stories, art, history, design, and connection.

The mission hasn’t changed: to queerify the world, one story, one fact, one creation at a time. But the tools, the reach, and the possibilities? Those have grown beyond my wildest dreams.
